Enjoy the tranquility of the Baixa da Areia bay with a self-catering stay at Casa do Jardim.

Casa do Jardim is a one-bedroom self-catering cottage sitting with a beautiful walled garden and small vineyard. Location is everything – Sao Miguel’s sunny south coast is dotted with bays and coves, and one of the most secluded is here on the western-edge of Caloura village. It’s just a few short steps from your front door to the beach at Baixa da Areia – a true hidden-gem, often only frequented by the locals of nearby Agua de Pau.

Architecturally, this is one of our favourite traditional-style Azorean cottages, built from natural stone with comfortable modern interior. The open-plan lounge/dining and kitchenette is comfortable and spacious for two, with a bamboo-covered terrace and BBQ which is perfect for al-fresco breakfasts and warm-sunsets with a glass of Azorean wine. There’s a double bedroom with a super-king, and a separate day-bed if you’re a couple with a youngster (a travel cot is also available on request). There’s also a well-equipped bathroom with a bathtub and shower, and a shared laundry room with a washing machine and dryer.

Jardim shares it’s grounds with a larger, three bedroom cottage called Casa das Pedras and it’s easy to combine both properties into one booking if you’re travelling with family and friends.

Please note: both Casa do Jardim and Casa das Pedras come with friendly dogs, which live within the shared walled gardens. If you’re not a fan of dogs, please let us know and we’ll suggested an equally lovely, pet-free alternative.
