Overview

Discover cascading waterfalls, gorgeous scenery and beautiful sunsets on our Flores Activity Holiday.

Arguably the most beautiful island in the archipelago, Flores marks the most-westerly point of Europe – and you’ll be staying in the most westerly village, at the bohemian Argonauta guesthouse. It’s a grand location – bordered by Flores’ famous seacliffs and waterfalls to the east, and brilliant colours of the evening sun across the Atlantic Ocean to the west. Your week includes a canyoning trip, (which can be tailored for beginners and experts alike), a jeep tour of the island’s crater lakes, and a guided walk along the west coast trail. You’ll also have some free time to relax, or you might like to add a day trip to neighbouring island of Corvo.

Flores doesn’t have an international airport, so we’ll top-and-tail your holiday with a stay on the main island Sao Miguel. The birds eye views as you fly between islands is always a memorable highlight to an Azores  holiday.

Itinerary

Tonight you'll stay at the Hotel Camões in Ponta Delgada on Sao Miguel. On arrival in the Azores from London, our driver will meet you at the airport and take you to your accommodation - this is a short 10 minute drive.
After transferring to the airport you'll fly to Flores. The inter-island flights are all part of the Azores experience and you'll pass the islands of Terceira, Pico, Sao Jorge and Faial before arriving at Flores. This flight is about 90 minutes. On arrival your host Stefano will meet you at the airport for your transfer to your accommodation in Faja Grande on the west coast. Here you'll stay at the Argonauta guesthouse for 5 nights.
Our guides will collect you for your canyoning trip. Flores is renowned for it's waterfalls and canyons and today's trip can be tailored for beginners and experts alike. There is a minimum age of 8yrs for the canyoning and no maximum
Your full day jeep tour of Flores is today. You’ll normally begin with a tour around Faja Grande and the neighbouring village of Fajazinha – both are famous for their waterfalls which drop 500m down steep cliffs from the island’s high central plateau on their way to the Atlantic Ocean. Driving inland, you’ll head towards Morro Alto, the highest point on Flores (900m), and the rolling green hills around the island’s beautiful central crater lakes. The road then leads you north, bringing you to the island’s main town of Santa Cruz. Look out for the Ilheu Maria Vaz, the small island just offshore which is an excellent example of prismatic disjunction – where cooling lava has fractured vertically, creating pillar-like structures (similar to the Giant’s Causeway). Your tour then heads back to the west coast to your accommodation at the Argonauta.
Flores is known for spectacular walking and today you'll be taken to the start of the west coast path for a guided walk back to Faja Grande. The path winds through spectacular cliff scenery and verdant fields.
Free day to explore the island or you could take a boat trip to neighbouring Corvo.
You'll be taken back to the airport for your flight to São Miguel, where on arrival you'll be transferred to your accommodation, the Hotel Camões in Ponta Delgada.
