The location of O Zimbreiro is wonderful, right at the eastern end of Pico in a lovely, quiet hamlet with picturesque ocean views. Jeremy, the owner, is from Belgium though he has lived on Pico for years and will make you very welcome.
O Zimbreiro is also known as the house of the potter, due to there being a small pottery in the main house, which also serves as a shop for selling pottery and guidebooks.
There are 5 rooms (4 doubles – 2 of which can sleep 4 guests – and 1 single) overlooking the chlorine free swimming pool with balconies with views over the ocean and São Jorge.
The private bathrooms have a shower and the décor in the rooms is fresh and bright with stencils on some of the walls with a nautical theme. Jeremy makes delicious breakfasts with homemade yoghurt, jam, bread and locally grown fruits and he cooks something different everyday like pancakes or brownies.
If you want to eat at night, this is possible some evenings (but not every evening) if you book in advance and there is a poolside bar open from 12 noon to 6pm. The closest restaurant (Ponta da Ilha) is a 30-40 minute walk or a 10 minute drive away.
Guests of O Zimbreiro also have WiFi access in the guest lounge and a lovely freshwater pool with loungers and pool towels.
