Estrela do Atlantico

Estrela do Atlantico, the ‘Star of the Atlantic’, combines classic Azorean architecture with a charming bohemian atmosphere.

This delightful guesthouse is a comfortable retreat from the hustle and bustle of Faial’s main harbour town Horta. Your hosts are Ruth and Ana on – two of our favourite guesthouse owners, and with the Estrela they’ve created a welcome alternative to the larger hotels in town.

There are five ensuite rooms in all at the Estrela – the ground floor double has direct access to the garden; head upstairs and there are two double rooms, each with a small balcony. There are also two suites both with kitchenettes, and the ground floor suite has its own small terrace. Across the garden, the detached Palacio has the feel of a small summerhouse, with an open plan layout and kitchenette.

Horta’s main seafront avenida and marina is a short, ten-minute walk away, although we often pass on a warning – it’s downhill heading into town but remember it’s uphill on the way home.
