Overview

Our Sao Miguel and Faial Family Holiday is a great way to explore two of our favourite Azorean islands.

The main Azorean island of Sao Miguel is an exciting, bustling place to be in the summertime with plenty of ways to exhaust both parents and children. You’ll begin your holiday with an exhilarating, fun-packed family day out with our canyoning team in the Ribeira dos Caldeiroes nature park. You’ll also head to sea on a whale and dolphin watching trip, before exploring inland waters on a kayaking trip to the great crater at Sete Cidades. And a visit to Sao Miguel wouldn’t be complete without a swim in the famous hot springs on the Furnas valley.

The small island of Faial’s a very different place – it’s peaceful and relaxing, with a much slower pace of life: ideal for unwinding and enjoying time together as a family. You’ll visit the friendly harbour town of Horta, the maritime capital of the Azores, the impressive Caldeira do Cabeco Gordo volcano and the beautifully-barren Capelinhos peninsula – one of Portugal’s most-striking natural monuments.

Accommodation-wise, you’ll be staying in two of our favourite locations: at Casa Lareira on the beautiful north coast of Sao Miguel, and at Casas d’Arramada in the tranquil Ribeira Funda farmlands on Faial.
