Porto Pim Bay Apartments

The Porto Pim Bay Apartments are on the southern-most tip of Faial, in the popular maritime town of Horta.

There are five apartments in all: a one-bedroom apartment and a studio on the ground floor, another one bedroom apartment and a larger two bed as you head up through the three floors of the building, and a spacious three bedroom apartment on the very top floor. They’re still relatively new – owner Rosa opened to public just under three years ago and her new venture’s been a huge success. That’s down to the friendly welcome you’ll receive when you arrive, and the care and attention that’s taken throughout your stay. Credit also has to go to the interior design – it’s simple, modern and well thought-through. Each apartment has an open-plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen – the one-bedroom apartments have double beds, whilst the two and three-bedroom apartments are a bit more flexible, with double and twin rooms. The larger apartments each have two bathrooms with walk in showers rather than bathtubs.

Baia de Porto Pim is right on your doorstep – home to one of our favourite beaches in the Azores, protected from the elements by the extinct Monte da Guia caldera. It’s a great swimming spot, and the Porto Pim Bay Apartments come with free-to-hire kayaks – the bay’s calm waters are perfect for beginners and children to get to grips with kayaking. In the opposite direction, the shops, café bars and restaurants of Horta are just around the corner. Horta’s also one of the best jumping-off points for whale and dolphin watching, and the marina’s a two-minute walk away.
