The Porto Pim Apartments are on the southern-most tip of the island of Faial, just a short walk from the centre of the delightful harbour town of Horta. There are five apartments in all: with one, two and three bedrooms as you head up through the three floors of the building.
They’re still relatively new – owner Rosa opened to public just under two years ago and her new venture’s been a huge success. That’s down to the friendly welcome you’ll receive when you arrive, and the care and attention that’s taken throughout your stay. Credit also has to go to Rosa’s interior design – it’s simple, modern and well thought-through: she’s taken the simple premise that if she’d like to stay in the apartments, so will you. Each apartment has an open-plan living area with a well-equipped kitchen – the one-bedroom apartments have double beds, whilst the two and three-bedroom apartments are a bit more flexible, with double and twin rooms. The larger apartments each have two bathrooms, with walk in showers rather than bathtubs.
Baia de Porto Pim (Porto Pim Bay) is right on your doorstep – it’s home to one of our favourite beaches in the Azores: the secluded Praia de Porto Pim, protected from the elements by the extinct Monte da Guia caldera. The apartments come with free-to-hire kayaks, and the bay’s calm waters are perfect for beginners and children to get to grips with kayaking, (and it’s a great swimming spot of course). In the opposite direction, the shops, restaurants and café bars of Horta are just around the corner; Horta is also one of the best jumping-off points for whale and dolphin watching, and the marina a two-minute walk away.
