Whale’come ao Pico is right in the centre of the whaling town of Lajes, this quirkily named hotel is next door to the longest established whale watching company in the Azores and the fascinating whaling museum.
Run by an entrepreneurial Frenchman and his Azorean partner, this small hotel makes an excellent and reasonably priced base for keen whale watchers.
There are 11 rooms including 3 triples, 3 twins, 4 doubles and 1 family room (1 double and 2 single beds) all with private bathroom, TV and WiFi and decorated with a mixture of old and new styles. Most of the rooms have a sea view over the fishing harbour and there is also a bar and restaurant open from 11am to 9pm.
Around 40 minutes drive from the airport and Madalena (the capital of Pico island and the main ferry terminal), Whale'come ao Pico is an ideal location for whale and dolphin watching. See below for more information on Pico island.
Located right next to the one of the best whale watching companies in the Azores, it is also ideally positioned for a cycling tour round Pico being on the coastal road.
