Quinta do Mar

The secluded terraces and orange groves at Quinta do Mar are the perfect place to unwind.

The quinta first opened its doors in 2005 – originally built as an adega (winery), the abandoned ruins were brought back to life by current owners Chris and Nick. Their renovations retained the original features of the adega wherever possible, complimenting the traditional Azorean architecture with the creature comforts of a modern boutique hotel.

There are six large en-suite guest rooms with balconies, air-conditioning and Wi-Fi – breakfasts are served in the stylish garden pavilion, overlooking the outdoor pool and ocean beyond. In the evenings, it’s a short stroll from Quinta do Mar down to Caloura’s pretty fishing harbour, where you can sample some of the best seasonal Azorean cuisine available on Sao Miguel.
