Quinta Altamira is situated in the picturesque fishing village of Caloura on the south coast of São Miguel, its bungalows are nestled amidst 16 acres of pretty gardens; part of which are cultivated and part of which are left wild.
Quinta Altamira is situated in the village of Caloura, one of the most idyllic locations on São Miguel. The sweeping bay of Caloura has a small fishing harbour at one end, sandy beach at the other and small fish restaurant within 5 minutes walk of the property.
These comfortable bungalows are in the extensive grounds of a larger house and you are free to wander and explore the orchards, small walled gardens or relax at the view points over looking the ocean. This property makes an ideal location for families or for guests looking for a peaceful coastal retreat where you can enjoy the use of a BBQ, tennis court, outdoor swimming pool and a small children’s playground.
They have a small shop where you can buy fruit, vegetables and jams from the gardens and other local produce from around the island. You can also order fresh bread from the local bakery through the owner, Sonke.
Quinta Altamira has a choice of one, two and three bedroom bungalows each with bathroom, combined living and dining room and integrated kitchen. In the three bedroom bungalows, the kitchen is a separate room. A laundry service is available.
Located half way along the south coast of São Miguel in the pretty fishing village of Caloura, this is an ideal location for exploring the whole island. As it's a quiet location, we recommend having a hire car to give you more freedom. See below for more information on São Miguel island.
