Near to the famous whaling town of Lajes with its whaling museum and whale watching boats, Aldeia da Fonte is a tranquil retreat set away from other settlements in a pretty woodland area on the South coast of Pico.
There are 8 suites, 16 studios, and 16 rooms (all ensuite) set in 6 stone cottages in the gardens. Aldeia da Fonte also has a bar and restaurant whose specialities are Azorean regional cooking and Chinese food, an outdoor pool overlooking the sea, a zen room, Tai Chi garden and its very own whale watching tower.
Standard or Deluxe rooms: all the rooms in Aldeia da Fonte include twin beds, a mini bar, writing desks, a television, hair dryer, and an in-room safe. Standard rooms are 20m² and the Deluxe rooms are 24m².
Studios: These are slightly larger than the standard rooms with an area of 31m². The bedroom has twin beds which can be put together on request to make a double bed. The studios share their level with another room/studio so these are not quite as private as the suites.
Suites: These are the most expensive rooms in Aldeia da Fonte with an area of 56m² and have a private hallway, ensuite bedroom, and living room with kitchenette. There are no other rooms on the same level as the suites so they feel very private. The bedroom has twin beds which can be put together on request to make a double bed. In the living room there is a sofa bed that can sleep one adult or two children under 8yrs. Some suites (but not all) also have an open fire and the hotel will provide wood if you need it.
WiFi access is available in all rooms.
Around 40 minutes drive from the airport and Madalena (the capital of Pico island and the main ferry terminal) and 5 minutes drive from Lajes do Pico, Aldeia da Fonte is an ideal tranquil base for exploring the island. See below for more information on Pico island.
Aldeia da Fonte is located 5 minutes drive from one of the best whale watching companies in the Azores, it is also ideally positioned for a cycling tour round Pico being just off the coastal road.
