Casa da Palha is a beautiful cottage is one of two that have recently been built (2006) in the grounds of a 200 year old manor house, located in the outskirts of Lagoa, the ceramics town on the south coast.
The cottages (Casa do Tanque is the other one) are surrounded by pastures and fruit trees and also a one hectare garden with a lily pond.
Casa da Palha is a modern more conventional looking cottage on two floors than Tanque, this lovely property is filled with a mix of modern and traditional Azorean furniture. Like Casa do Tanque, the layout downstairs is open plan with the same facilities but with an additional toilet. The fitted kitchen has a washing machine, tumble drier, electric oven, gas hob, and microwave and there is a lounge and diner.
Upstairs are two twin bedrooms each with their own bathroom. Both houses have central heating, a fireplace (wood provided) in the lounge, BBQ and garden furniture.
A welcome basket of bacon, eggs, oil, bread, butter, fruits, jams, cheese and beer is included.
