Save 20% with our November Special Offer – Seven nights at Senhora de Rosa

Was £2160pp now £1727pp.

Shake off the autumn blues this November with a seven-night stay at the delightful Hotel Senhora de Rosa on Sao Miguel.

De Rosa’s watch words are ‘tradição’ and ‘natureza’ – ‘tradition’ is reflected in the warm Azorean welcome you’ll feel from the moment you arrive, and in the time-honoured recipes served by Senhora de Rosa’s Magma restaurant. The residents of Sao Miguel are proud of their culinary heritage, and the chefs at Magma showcase the best of the island’s local, seasonal produce. You’ll also have a chance to learn how Azorean cuisine, religion, history, and the surrounding sea are inextricably linked on our Ponta Delgada food tour.

Azorean ‘natureza’ or ‘nature’ is all around you – from the high mountains of Lagoa do Fogo, to the hot springs of the Furnas Valley and the crater lakes of Sete Cidades – and our local guides will show you the timeless natural beauty of these iconic locations. You’ll also spend time at sea with the island’s whale and dolphin population – sperm whales and bottlenose dolphins are resident in the waters around Sao Miguel, and we work with the best conservationists on the island to give you an unforgettable wildlife experience.

Itinerary

You’ll begin your holiday flying direct from Stansted to the Azores. You’ll be collected on arrival by our driver for your transfer to Nossa Senhora da Rosa (a ten-minute drive). We’ve included dinner for your first evening at Nossa Senhora’s Restaurante Magma.
You’ll explore the Furnas valley with our resident guide, with visits to Lagoa das Furnas, caldeiras and the Terra Nostra botanical gardens.
You’ll explore the capital this morning on our Ponta Delgada Food Tour. The islands’ fertile volcanic soil and mid-Atlantic climate allow farmers to grow a fantastic range of produce, and you’ll have a chance to sample the best of the island’s seasonal fruits and vegetables.
You’ll head down to the local marina for a whale and dolphin watching trip. The seas around the Azores are one of the best places to observe cetaceans and ocean wildlife: particularly bottlenose dolphins and sperm whales.
You’ll head out of the city once again, exploring the mountains of the Agua de Pau volcano, the north coast town of Ribeira Grande and the Gorreana tea plantation.
Today’s free – you might like to visit the Jose do Canto botanical gardens, the Gruta do Carvão lava tunnels or the Augusto Arruda pineapple planation on the outskirts of Sao Roque.
For your final full day on the island, you’ll explore western Sao Miguel – the great crater at Sete Cidades, the Ilhéus dos Mosteiros and Ponta Ferraria, where the sea is naturally heated by underwater volcanic vents.
You’ll be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
