Overview

Did you know the Azores are on the migration route of blue whales? This is only one of the reasons why this stunning archipelago is the ideal destination for whale watching holidays. Each year these larger-than-life creatures head north and pass through the islands on their way to their Artic feeding grounds.  However, blue whales are not the only species to be seen around the islands, as over 25% of the world whale and dolphin species pass through every year.

You will also have the chance to go bird watching and discover exotic species around the island.

Bird and whale watching holidays

The islands are just 4 hours from the UK and offer anyone with an interest in marine life, flowers, bird and volcanoes a truly memorable trip. We are only accepting bookings for three more departure dates: 15th, 22nd and 29th April 2017.

Contact one of our team before it’s too late and enquire about our amazing bird and whale watching holidays.

Itinerary

Fly from London to the Azores. A car will collect you at the airport and take you to your hotel: Hotel do Colegio
Three-hour whale and dolphin watching trip.
Free day to explore the island at your own pace.
Three-hour whale and dolphin watching trip
Free day to explore the island at your own pace.
Full Day Birdwatching. This is a mixed day out where we look for birds, insects and plants and find out more about the eco-systems which allow them to thrive. Due to the nature of the weather in the Azores and the vagaries of bird movements, the itinerary for the day is not set. However, Gerby usually visits the Western Lakes in and around Sete Cidades to see local subspecies and Mosteiros (a fishing village on the west coast) to see shorebirds and seabirds. You may also see the Azores Bullfinch during your day. From May to October, he may take you to see the Citrine Forktail dragonfly colony, the only American dragonfly living in Europe and the only all-female population in the world. From mid-September to mid-April, you are likely to visit the central part of Sao Miguel to view migrants.
Free day to explore the island at your own pace.
