Two bedroom cottage, sleeps 4.
Having returned from California to Pico supposedly for a quieter life for her husband, the energetic owner of Casa Flor da Ribeira, a traditional village house took on the organisation of its renovation among others.
The house is located just outside (2km) the quiet fishing village of Prainha on the North coast of the island overlooking São Jorge. Casa Flor da Ribeira is fully equipped for self catering (towels and linen are provided) and built from traditional lava stone. All of the houses have a coffee machine, toaster, microwave, fridge, oven, TV, hair dryer, iron, portable heaters and dehumidifiers. There is also a supermarket in the village and a pizza restaurant within walking distance but the location is fairly remote so a hire car is essential.
Located between Ribeira do Alto and Conteiras, this traditional house is located high up, 400m from the coast with gorgeous views of São Jorge, the blue ocean and the green mountains behind.
It has a very spacious fully equipped kitchen and dining area with a view to São Jorge. There is also a separate lounge and a twin bedroom upstairs with a double bedroom and bathroom downstairs. Outside of Casa Flor da Ribeira, there is a BBQ area and terrace with outdoor furniture where you can enjoy a meal and listen to the birdsong. There is also a large ‘yard’ area around the house which is shared with Casa das Conteiras.
The house is 500 metres from a restaurant, grocery store, ATM machine and the sea and also 20km from Lajes, 24km from the airport and 32km from Madalena on the island of Pico. See below for more information on Pico island.
Located 35 minutes drive from one of the best whale watching companies in the Azores, it is also ideally positioned for a cycling tour round Pico being on the coastal road. In the summer there are also regular ferries to Faial and São Jorge from São Roque which is only 12km away.
