This wonderful house is as close to a stately home as
you get in the Azores. Everything about the house is top
quality and the owners, Alcino and Maria, who live on
site are very hospitable. The house dates back to the
17th century when it was built on the site of the original
farm and has been lovingly restored with fresh décor of
cream walls, polished wood floors and woodwork, light
rugs and heavy luxurious curtains in the rooms.
Outside there is an astro turf tennis court and saltwater
eternity pool with a gym underneath. The large gardens
(35km2) are full of romantic stone furniture to sit and
enjoy the grounds from a hidden vantage point.
If you choose to stay indoors then the views over the
sea are beautiful from the lounge and Alcino’s library is
fascinating, collected from all his travels when he was in
the army.
