Located on the shore of Furnas lake, one of the most beautiful natural areas of Sao Miguel and only 12 km from the ocean coast. Casa do Barcos, due to its location and architectural beauty provides an excellent place to enjoy a relaxing or adventurous stay. Originally an old boat pavilion, the house is part of an estate created in the XIX century by José do Canto, a local aristocrat. The estate currently has about 100 Ha of forest of which 8 Ha are landscaped.

The house has two suites, each consisting of a double bed-room with private living room and bathroom, one in the ground floor facing the lake, and the other in the top-floor, with a view of the Chapel. The ground floor also contains a living room equipped with TV, telephone, and Internet connection, a fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom, for the common use of all guests. The top-floor also contains a game room. The entire house is equipped with central heating, which provides for a comfortable stay during the winter months. Extra beds can be made available upon request and for an additional fee.
