Faial has some of the best dive sites in the Azores ranging from the wonderful Faial/Pico channel with the most diverse habitat in the Azores; a 5 nautical mile wide shelf ranging from 45m to 500m in depth. There are also several caves to explore for the more experienced divers including Gruta Profunda with an entrance at 35m and an internal exit to the surface. There is also the opportunity to dive round old volcanic craters and vertical drop offs. Most dives are close to Horta so this makes an ideal base for any diving holiday on Faial.
